About Metamox
Metamox is the longest-running Magic: The Gathering meta analytics site, created in 2011 by David Loschiavo in Northern Virginia (DC metro area) where Legacy, Vintage, and Commander ruled the tables.
Originally, this all started as a spreadsheet for two things:
- track the coolest cards for Commander in one sheet
- aggregate archetype builds and "the meta" based on recent tournament finishes for Legacy and Standard. Modern didn't even exist yet.
The spreadsheet was originally done manually (ouch). Then I decided to automate it, and the rest is history.
Recent developments in software engineering have made it a lot easier and quicker to put ideas into action, and nowadays it's a deluge of functionality.
What you'll find here
Now MetaMox tracks what's actually being played in every major format so you can see where the meta is today, how the decks work.
- Format meta. Archetype breakdowns, staples, and the decks driving each format, updated as new results come in.
- Decks. Browse and search decklists, compare builds, and drill into the cards that define an archetype, even the combos they run and how they interact.
- Cards. Every card and printing, searchable by name, text, type, color, set, and more, with the decks that play it.
- Sets, artists, and subtypes. Explore the game by set, by artist, and by creature type.
