- Wizards of the Coast2025-06-30Counterspell was unbanned in historic on June 30, 2025. For some time now, we have noticed that creature combo and enchantment strategies have been consistent and dominant in the format. We want to give control players a few more tools to react and disrupt the tempo of these aggro and midrange decks. Therefore, we believe it's time for Counterspell to be unbanned in Historic.
