Force of Vigor was unbanned in historic on February 9, 2026. Force of Vigor offers clear sideboard counterplay against that and similar strategies that rely on artifacts and enchantments, which would otherwise be difficult to trade favorably against. Force of Vigor was banned in historic on April 7, 2024. One of the things that defines Historic's power level is game speed. We have been cautious of free spells in the format that allow for a rapid change in tempo. To maintain the current game pace, Commandeer and Force of Vigor are banned in Historic.
