- Wizards of the Coast2025-11-10Heartfire Hero was banned in pioneer on November 10, 2025. Overall, our goal with this ban is to reduce the win rate of Mono-Red, specifically by targeting the degree of pressure to have interaction on the first turn (or risk dying on the third turn) that Heartfire Hero puts on the format. Pioneer is deep enough that we believe Mono-Red Aggro should be able to comfortably adapt, and lessening the inevitability that comes with its early pressure will broaden what its players can explore. - Wizards of the Coast2025-06-30Heartfire Hero was banned in standard on June 30, 2025. Heartfire Hero has been another key piece of red aggressive decks' strength throughout the last year of Standard. Its strength has shifted the format toward decks that can interact starting on turn one or two or decks that can leverage Temporary Lockdown as powerful counterplay. Heartfire Hero has proven to have too much explosive power combined with too much resiliency. As such, Heartfire Hero is banned.
